Christopher Friese, RN, PhD, AOCN, is a Research Fellow at the Center for Outcomes and Policy Research and an Associate Clinical Scientist at the Cantor Center for Research in Nursing and Patient Care Services at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, MA. His research is funded by a grant in Cancer Prevention and Control to the Harvard School of Public Health. He conducts research on the outcomes of care for patients with cancer, and the role of nursing on these outcomes. He is principal investigator of the research grant, “Neutropenia Outcomes: Nurse Staffing and Environment Effects,” funded by the Oncology Nursing Foundation. He received his bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees from the University of Pennsylvania. He has participated in the Oncology Nursing Society Sponsored Evidence-Based Summaries of Prevention of Infection. He was the recipient of the Young Investigator Award from the Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer. His research has been published in Nursing Research, Oncology Nursing Forum, and Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing. He is an active member of the Oncology Nursing Society and Sigma Theta Tau. Dr. Friese still practices clinically as a staff nurse in hematologic malignancies/bone marrow transplantation.
